Théâtre Libre is a feminist, physical theatre company founded in 2009 and based in London, UK. Théâtre Libre are committed to the staging of powerful female leads, and to the exploration and subversion of female heroine and villain archetypes. Théâtre Libre's portfolio includes bold re-imaginings of characters ranging from Clytemnestra and Salomé to the Italian martyr Maria Goretti. Their work has garnered 4 star and rave reviews from publications such as Londonist, Female Arts, Remote Goat, London Theatre 1, The F Word, A Younger Theatre, and Everything Theatre at venues ranging from Waterloo East and Leicester Square Theatre to The Space. Théâtre Libre's process is highly collaborative, drawing not just on the skills of the cast and creatives, but also on those of other artistic practices. Théâtre Libre has worked with poets, musicians, dancers, light installation artists, and green screen projection specialists as part of their experimentation with form and media.
